That time of year for my favorite hackathon in the Cleveland area, GiveBackHack! An amazing opportunity to work together with driven people to help better the Cleveland community. Just like last year, the ideas were amazing! So much energy and passion invested this year, I am so proud of everyone.
This year our team had an idea about a buy one give one startup to help people experiencing homelessness. We are MentorPack!
The premise of the idea (after many pivots) was to offer a collection of high quality bathroom products that we sell to customers. In return, we use the profits to purchase backpacks filled with bathroom products to be given to people in need.
We landed on bathroom products because it could hopefully help get people experiencing homelessness feel better about themselves and be more representable for future possibilities. Along with the backpack giving them a sense of ownership and providing utility.
After surveying around 100 people, we learned about particular prices points for customers and found feasible ways to make it happen. Thus, leading to our MVP site where we collected roughly 50 user’s emails for future interest.
By the end of the weekend, we ended up placing fourth and winning consultation to help further our idea! Stunning. I was totally shocked because some of the ideas were super incredible. Everyone was really deserving.
I’m already super pumped for next year. I can’t wait! See you there.
